Was awake last night when I saw it on facebook and thought, 'finally, after 1. The only two things that irk me is the whole CBS distribution model thing, which is understandable but annoying – how can we watch this in Aus? I thought they were trying to REDUCE piracy! Also it better not be the trainwreck that was Into Darkness (good sfx, but stupid story and execution). It needs to go back to its roots, more of the original please, rich character development and excellent sciencey story lines occasionally, with most being pretty good. Or do people want action, and nothing but these days? Because that would explain the new movies.

CBS have a distribution deal with Ten, so hopefully it will be on FTA. If not, it will surely go on one of the established services rather than a new one. I loved Into Darkness. Donners writes.. I loved Into Darkness. It sure was entertaining to some extent, don't get me wrong. They have just actioned the crap out of it though, whereas star trek is supposed to be more intellectual and more 'realistic'.

Unfortunately everyone wants action and silly stories so that's what we get, especially in big hollywood blockbusters. Hopefully it will be a bit better on the small screen. Donners writes.. he proposed distribution method in the US – subscription to a CBS network – is a bit of a worry. That will surely cut the audience way back.

True but it will let them be more creative in the show. Last thing we need is another bland and safe Star Trek. Kurtzman also EP'd Fringe. I'm optimistic with what he can do with a ST TV reboot. Yes, I know he was responsible for the movie reboots, but I think his strength is in TV. Donners writes.. CBS have a distribution deal with Ten, so hopefully it will be on FTA. Sci- fi rarely seems to work on the commercial stations. It might be a run on Eleven, but depends how much CBS are asking. Gene Roddenberry Star Trek was great, i'm not too hype over this due to the show not being Gene Roddenberry..

Star Trek just like x- files because there's heap of stories to write.. Gene Roddenberry was ahead of his time. One of my idea for the show for a long time now about the beginning transition from old system to new system of 2.

Chris Carter could take this project.. Donners writes.. I loved Into Darkness. I thought it was shite, laughable utter shite in fact (and I didn't hate the first Star Trek reboot movie, I mean it wasn't really Star Trek, but it was a decent generic action Sci- Fi with a good cast.

Into Darkness though, oh my god..). I was tentatively excited when I heard the news about the new series this morning until I read that Alex Kurtzman was attached to the project, which basically confirms they are going to go down the same path with this tv series as they have with the reboot movies (ie brainless b- grade action sci- fi that uses all the iconography of Star Trek to bring in the fan base while throwing out everything that Star Trek actually was – a way of exploring contemporary philosophical issues). They have just actioned the crap out of it though, whereas star trek is supposed to be more intellectual and more 'realistic'. Unfortunately everyone wants action and silly stories so that's what we get, especially in big hollywood blockbusters. Hopefully it will be a bit better on the small screen. To be fair, that was true for the most popular original movies too – 2, 6 and 8 were heavy on the action (and ham in the former two) and less so on logic or realism, while 4 was a fish- out- of- water comedy. The ones which were of the more traditional Star Trek variety – 1, 5 and 9 – did not fare well critically or commercially.

I also don't think ID gets enough credit for raising extrajudicial killings and preemptive strikes to provoke wars, which are pretty damn topical. The small screen is much more suited to something a bit more involved, so hopefully the series will reach a high standard. Anything as good as Enterprise's fourth season would make me happy. Inferno- writes.. Sci- fi rarely seems to work on the commercial stations. It might be a run on Eleven, but depends how much CBS are asking.

True, I remember Voyager only lasted a couple of months in prime time before being shipped off to Trek's traditional 1. Australia, while Enterprise got a couple of Saturday nights before a similar fate. Digital channels weren't around back then, so maybe it'll fare better there.

Unfortunately everyone wants action and silly stories so that's what we get, especially in big hollywood blockbusters. Hopefully it will be a bit better on the small screen. This, unfortunately its action in movies, for a series you can flesh out story arcs alot more, take your time & no need for alot of action if any at all, a massive fan of TNG especially. But the point needs to be made, with out JJ's 2 Star Trek movies that has sparked interest in Star Trek again this I dare say might never of been made / being made. One of my idea for the show for a long time now about the beginning transition from old system to new system of 2.

I created an idea about 1. Q didn't stick his nose in? The Federation would never have met the Borg when they did, so Sisko would never have been given command of DS9 which means they never met the Dominion either. There wouldn't have been anything preventing the Maquis from gaining strength in their conflict against Cardassia, which resulted in the Cardassians declaring war against them, which resulted in the Federation declaring war on the Maquis as well to keep the peace, which splintered factions within the Federation – some supporting the Federation, others supporting the Maquis. A civil war occurred, and with the Federation at war with itself many member worlds withdrew from the Federation. DS9 became Maquis HQ, and the Klingons joined the new Maquis Alliance.

The Federation declared war on the Klingons which caused the Vulcans to also withdraw from the Federation, followed by all other members. Watch The Muppet Movie Online Metacritic. The Federation formed an alliance with the Cardassians and the Breen against the Maquis Alliance, and Star Trek: Rebellion was formed. Ah, memories.. Can. Not. Wait. O. P. I wonder if Trek will finally bite the bullet and boldly go where it has been afraid to go before and have a legitimate gay character as part of its crew? They've skirted the issue for 5. We've had black captains, female ones, pretty much full ethnic diversity among its crews but sexual identity has been pretty much taboo for the show- a couple of faux attempt episodes aside. Will the 2. 4th century(or is it 2.

I hope with the vast improvements to CGI and our knowledge of the universe that we get to see/visit some cool systems and objects that can be found in the deep void.. I wonder if Trek will finally bite the bullet and boldly go where it has been afraid to go before and have a legitimate gay character as part of its crew? I think that's something they are going to have to include.
